Jay Masterson, Ed.D.
It is an honor for me to serve as the principal of Portsmouth Middle School. I am looking forward to getting to know all members of the Portsmouth Middle School community this school year. I have been a principal for the last eleven years. I am married to my wife Dawn, who is a fellow educator. I have two 17 year old son’s named James and Robert.
My passion starts with ensuring that our children are the major focus in building the culture of our school. Our school has a strong reputation already and I believe that it is only going to get stronger! At Portsmouth Middle School, we will work together to establish a school culture that ensures your child’s growth with the whole child in mind as stated in the Portsmouth School Department District Strategic Plan (academically and socially/emotionally). You will find that I believe in transparency in all aspects of the school operation so that there is a high level of trust established with all of our stakeholders (faculty, staff, families, and students).
